STIR
I had the chance to enter the Sherwin Williams color competition. It was a blast designing the space that I am using in my studio project this semester. The space is an art gallery that show cases the art media of blown glass. For the design solution we had to choose 3 Sherwin Williams paint colors and apply them to our design. I chose 4 colors, 2 neutral colors for the walls and 2 pops of color that are located on the ceiling. My concept statement for the space is this: This project was to design an art gallery and this particular art media is blown glass. Our task was to design a space from the Puffer Belly Depot in Pullman WA. It was a very complicated space to work with but it was also very enjoyable in the task of transforming the structure into a new space. Paint was used to enhance the space that was being worked with by spicing up the existing building which was a dull old train station the is being used to renew licenses. As to not take away from the art work in the gallery, color was incorporated in pops in the ceiling to enhance the viewing experience. These pops of color gave new life to the building while the design gave it a fresh purpose as an art gallery. I learned a lot from this project and I look forward to keep improving my skills.
