3. New Horizons Teen Center and Street Bean Espresso

            We visited the New Horizons Teen Center and Street Bean Espresso was very eye opening.  This place is for teens who don’t have a place to go.  This place was a bit to open and it felt like it was a daycare instead of a place for teens to go be safe and just hang out with one another.  The one thing that I love hearing about was the fact that they gave some of the teens a job across the street at a little coffee shop called Street Bean Espresso.  The coffee shop was laid out perfectly, lots of circulation and places to socialize and places to just curl up and read a book.  Back across the street at the New Horizons Teen Center the one thing that they should change is adding light colors to the wall because the white on the wall made me very uncomfortable and I felt like it was a in a hospital instead of a safe place.  With numerous teens coming through at a time the place needs to be, one, cleanable and two, have the feeling of being safe and secure without making the teen feel trapped.  I enjoyed learning about the New Horizons Teen Center and Street Bean Espresso.
