2. 325 Westlake Residence
One
of my favorite stops on the Seattle trip was the 325 Westlake Residence, It is
an apartment complex with a art studio in the front of it. The place was stunning! If I had the money I would totally live
there. I honestly had no idea that apartments
in general could look that amazing.
Before Westlake I had a mental image of apartments that were run down
and people only live in them if they truly had too, Westlake shattered that
image for me at least. The most
important thing that I learned from the 325 Westlake site visit was that it’s
always a good idea to reuse some of the materials if you can, they make
beautiful accent pieces. The Westlake
residence is very beautiful and it is located in a great spot with a view of
the Space Needle and the EMP. The
importance of human interaction with this space is great it makes you feel . Not many people live on each floor and they
won’t be able to hear the people above them walking because the builders built
the floors with some sort of mechanism that allows the sound of footsteps and
has them absorb into the ground and not travel down the framing of the of the
building. This stop on our trip was one
of my favorites if not my favorite.
