Frye Art Museum

5.Frye Art Museum
The Fry Art Museum was definitely our most interesting stop on our Seattle trip.  The entry way was very cool.  It had a reflection pond that had some art in it and as you walked up the ramp you came to these huge bronze doors.  Our tour guide said something that I really like about not polishing a bronze door.  He said “It’s a positive way for an individual to leave their mark on a building.”  I really liked that saying and now I think about it every time I go into a building.  After you enter through the bronze doors you come into the lobby of the museum that has a huge skylight in the middle of it.  It almost looks like an oculus just like in Rome.  The interior affected my experience with the space by keeping the walls very simple and white while the art stood out and popped off the walls.  The one thing that the museum could have done a much better job at is to include a seating area so people don’t have to stand while they look at the art and if they want to draw the art it’s hard to draw it while standing.
