Vision Disability Ability

I had the wonderful experience of doing an activity that allowed me to experience the world as a legally blind person.  For the first activity we had to look through a layer plastic wick represented 20/60 vision. While we did that we had to read a newspaper and I can honestly tell you that I could not read a single word.  Then we had to fold the plastic bag to create 4 layers of plastic as if I could read the newspaper I could hardly see the space around me when I had to look through 4 layers of plastic.  For my final exercise I had to walk to the elevator while wearing sun glasses with petroleum jelly smeared on the lenses.  Then I had to walk to an ATM and locate the card swipe and key pad.  I had no clue where they were at. I had to feel the ATM to locate where they were at.  Then I  had to walk up the stairs and that was a lot of fun! I could walk easily up the stairs. I had a lot of fun doing this exercise.
