Habitat for Humanity house design

For the past few weeks I got the chance to work with two of my fellow classmates to design a house for Habitat for Humanity.  I had an absolute blast working with my partners! We decided to go with the idea of a wagon wheel for our concept statement because the community helps to build a Habitat  House.

We had an open floor plan that will encouraged the family who moves into the house to interact with one another. We also had a small family room upstairs to encourage family interaction through out the entire house.  We built a ADA assessable kitchen and bathroom with a 5 foot turn around and a roll in shower on the ground floor.  In our upstairs bathroom we added a closet that houses the washer and dryer so laundry can be closer the the bedrooms making it easier for the family to do laundry.

My group maximized every inch of the house, so their is minimum wasted space.  Since this is a Habitat for Humanity house that is very important, we even added a coat closet under the stairs.  I enjoyed spending so much time on this project and my skills in using my markers for renderings has improved so much! I had a blast doing this project an can't wait to do more of them!
